Mug

This handsome mug has a rich dark glaze, then a finger swipe to reveal the clay underneath that then got salted during the firing. White squiggles and a golden ash glaze on the rim. The contrast between the dark color of the front and russet color on the back of the mug show the variations created by the wood firing.

We call these barrel mugs, and they are a joy to hold and to use. Here's Mark making one.
