This green/russet/maroon glaze and combed decoration combo has won our hearts! It was everything and more Mark could have hoped for when he started working on new glazes, originally for the gas kiln.
There were plates and bowls, and thankfully MUGS! It's a red clay slip under a celadon glaze that creates this spectacular combination of colors - and a contrasting creamy light rim. He tried it again for Firing 113 of the wood kiln, and again got great results.
We call this shape a barrel mug, and it is a joy to hold and to use!
There are two sizes. This size is the smaller one. Mark's standard barrel mugs are large - somewhat like a grapefruit with a handle. This size is more like an orange. It still holds 14-16oz!
