Tumbler - "Iced Tea Ceremony Vessel"

Mark Hewitt Pottery

SKU: 104-IT04

Henry Hammond, the celebrated English potter, student of William Sate Murray, visited my mentor, Michael Cardew, at Wenford Bridge, in Cornwall, while I was an apprentice there (1978?). He said of a particular bowl of mine that he liked the way the decoration "sat in the bowl." I feel the same way as thes brush strokes. The depth of color and sheen is equally mysterious. Subdued beauty.
